For the first time in the third wave, deaths due to COVID-19 fell across the country in the week ending Sunday. New coronavirus cases continued to register a decline at an unprecedented rate.

The country recorded 3,366 deaths during the week from February 7-13, with a 23% drop from the previous week′s toll of 4,355, according to TOIs COVID database. This is the first time that fatalities have fallen in six weeks of the Omicron-led third wave in India.
